valve seal

has anyone ever herd of the metal spring on the valve seal comming off or breaking becuase it looks like it has happened to my 300 which was makeing it burn oil. Thanks

yeah ive seen the metal band on them break before but its not very common. its not something you will need to be worrying about alot after you replace them. you probably wont have the problem again.

I have never heard of it happening but I bet it has before. Replacing the valve stem seals is not a very hard job if you are mechanically inclined. Just a weekend job. Scary part of that metal band coming off is that if it gets past the valve springs it will be free to go anywhere in your engine it wants:eek2: :mad:
