Just picked up a YFZ. Need a pipe that will pass sound tech in CA. Must be 96db or less. I know one of the mags had a pipe shootout not long ago, but I don't have it. Any help appreciated.

Sparks is a good quiet YFZ pipe.

Cool, I'll look into that.
Anybody have the August 2004 Dirtwheels? It has the YFZ pipe shootout. The winner was 94.5 db. Who's got the mag? What does it say?

I didn't think the Sparks were real quiet, unless you can get a quiet core now. I know White Brothers and HMF both have a line of quieter pipes.

Sorry, my post was a joke. Sparks is a loud pipe, but one of the best. I think the Dubach won that challange?

I seem to remember the Dubach doing well too. I definetly want a pipe desgned from the ground up as a quiet pipe, not a regular pipe with a plug in it.

I think if you get a pipe that is designed quiet "from the ground up" is going to have a lot less power than a normal pipe with a "plug" in it. I would definately go with a nice exhaust system with a quiet core in it, they run at the legal noise limit. I'd say go with either HMF or Dr. D(ubach).

TC racing should suite your needs....lol j/k HMF with a quiet core should work fine now,i also seen that yoshimura made a supposed 93DB quiet core for their pipes now too:devil:

I'm leaning toward the Dr. D.
