this is pretty off topic, but i am looking at buying a truck/trailer. i have pretty much decided on peterbilt for a truck, but am looking at different trailers. has anyone been around the Alumatech tub-type trailers? do you like them or not? i like them but am worried about the capacity they will hold. i want a smooth sided one so it is either an Alumatech or a Vantage... anyone have any input??

example of an Alumatech: http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/forsale/detail.asp?guid=D9807A03ECC84505A9F77429E68BCD52&pcid=419954&etid=1&OHID=772627&bcatid=28&nh=0&listURL=bcatid%3D28%26catid%3D352%26man%3DALUMATEC H

and here is a Vantage: http://www.truckpaper.com/listings/forsale/detail.asp?guid=D9807A03ECC84505A9F77429E68BCD52&pcid=2000693667&etid=1&OHID=751528&bcatid=28&nh=0&listURL=bcatid%3D28%26catid%3D352%26ParentCategory ID%3D%26man%3DVANTAGE

I guess it depends what u want to haul in it? We've been looking at buying another dump trailer to haul corn with, priced a 39 foot East frameless dump, 9ft spread, with liner and all opitions, was like 50k:eek2: . Kind of hard to make that cash flow at 2.20 corn. I realize u live on a farm, can't say i've ever seen anyone haul a grain commidity in a trailer like that. i believe my post is very pointless weird:huh

I used to run a 39 1/2 ft Alumatech frameless trailer. I've got a lot of dump trailer experience, and by far, the Alumatech was the best trailer I've ever used. With the daycab I was using, I could legally load 26 1/2 ton in the wagon. It had a next to nothing lite weight. Also, the nicest riding trailer I've ever used. Although it takes a little to get used to putting a round trailer up in the air if you're used to a square body. Just have to get used to how to judge whether you're going up straight or not.

5 stars!!!!

They are both well built trailers the big thing to look at is what suspension is under them and the condition I assume they are both air ride. I prefer the Hendrickson Turner over a New-way. But thats just my opinion. The Pete is a good choice. IF you have any Questions feel free to ask I am the Supervisor at a Suspension Shop in Western Pa. (Keystone Spring Service) I deal with this stuff every day of the week and I also run a Mobile Alignment service On the side catering to the motor carrier Ind.
