Got this from the ARRA

The results are in and the American people have once again demonstrated that a democracy is the finest form of government. As Lincoln said, we have a “government of the people, by the people and for the people.”

Record numbers of Americans went to the polls. More than 112 million citizens exercised their right to choose our national leaders. The old adage that “every vote counts” became very real to all of us during the 2000 Presidential election. It seems that Americans of all political persuasions wanted to make sure that their vote was counted this year.

President Bush’s re-election is good news for those of us who care about maintaining access to federal lands for recreational activities. I suspect that the anti-access folks are none too happy with the results of the elections given the fact that Republicans have not only retained the White House but have increased their margins in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.

A couple of races in the House and the Senate are still too close to call. Once we have the results of these races, we will be issuing another newsletter that will discuss the changes we see occurring in the next Congress and what these changes mean for the recreation community. In addition, we anticipate there will be numerous personnel changes during the second Bush Administration. As changes occur in those executive departments of interest to ARRA, we will report those changes to you.

Please continue to check the ARRA website for the latest information regarding the 2004 elections.
