Hey everyone. New to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Eric and I just bought an 87 TRX250x.
http://www.horsepowered.com/imagehost/NitrousEdge/250_2_X.jpg
I plan to use it mostly as a pit bike while at the racetrack, with some trail riding thrown in for good measure.

My first passion is drag racing. I have a 98 Mustang GT that runs low low 11's @ 120+mph

http://www.horsepowered.com/imagehost/NitrousEdge/NewMotorInstalled1-18-03-2.jpg

I know a lot about cars, but nothing about bikes, so please be patient if I ask stupid questions - - Like this one. What is the proper wheel offset for the 87250x? I found a different set of wheels I want to get, but the spacing is nothing like its measured on a car!

Thanks for letting me participate, it looks like a GREAT forum!

Welcome newbie! Youve got a wealth of quad info here. Browse the forums, ask questions or use the search feature to find stuff.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

Appleton WI is about 30minutes south of Green Bay on HWY 41.

I'm 29, work at a papermill and like long walks on the, oops wrong forum....:blah:

About the car.... the motor is a 2002 cobra motor (they didn't make 2002 cobra's so I got one of the motors that would have went into them) the motor itself is basically stock except for headers and a set of custom grind camshafts that I put in this spring - they are pretty radical on the duration and give it a nice lopey idle. I typically shoot a 150HP nitrous (NČO) shot at it, but will go bigger if I have to:devil: The same time I put that motor in I put a C4 automatic transmission and a 6 point roll cage in it. Best time to date is an 11.04 and best mph is 122.6 in the quarter mile. I race local Real street Drags (street racing at the race track) and also run in the NMRA (national mustang racers association) FFW (fun ford weekend) and WFC (world ford challenge) Modular muscle class. I bought the car new in 1998 and it has 14,000 miles on it.:huh

That's a nice mustang. A guy I work with has a 95 that's running 9's at 5500 feet here in new mexico. That's also a pretty clean 250x. Glad to have ya on the site.

im not sure if you have heard of the linginfelter corvette...but its a twin turbo 1000+ hp vette....AUTOMATIC!! runs like 8. something second quarters! with new technology, automatic compared to manual in a full out drag car is pretty close...but automatic being more consistant, which is good for drags.

but that point aside....

nice pony man!! i myself am into cars, except i started with quads...and ended up selling my quad to put more money into my cars. hehe

and...welcome to the site!

A C-4 auto tranny, no missed shifts! That is a good one if it has been worked.
Has it had any modifications? Whats the stall rpm?

NitrousEdge
11-03-2004, 11:28 PM
Nope not supercharged - that didn't happen till '03 - mine is just bottle fed.

It is a fully rollerized comp prepped Performance Automatic C4 with a transbrake - stall is ~3000 on motor and ~ 3700 on nitrous. Mine is a street car, but 95% of all drag cars have automatics in them...

Thanks for all the compliments!

I split the cost of the quad with a buddy - so I paid $375 for it - total price was $750. It does need rear brake work though...

Rear brake work is not anything on those things newbie. You got the knowledge at your fingertips. All you have to do is ask if you have any problems. But if you can change the cams in a Dohc 32 valver you can do the brakes with your eyes closed!:D

haha he means elevation....

NitrousEdge
11-04-2004, 08:49 PM
Say a car ran 9.5@145 at 5280 feet above sea level - using certain claculators it would probably run an 8.85@154.93 at sea level conditions.

"Full throttle plus a bottle!"

gotta love it!! hehe

sharkinthepool

I just excused it and thought he meant an 1/8th mile!:D

Never even thought of elevation being a factor for New Mex.
