sound like it could be the rings if it is burning oil.

what was done to the head when you had the motor rebuilt?

y would the rings have gone already, i've only rode it like 15 times. The head was ported and polised, and had a valve job done on it. they said the valvues were still good though. And when it was done the valvues were tight. Is there any way to check the rings without takin it back apart. Thanks

does it smoke or you just notice you have to add oil.

it smokes when i jump on it and spits a little out. When i ran it the oil level went down and the longer it sat there the oil level went up. Could the oil fliter be clogged or the oil not flowing correctly. Thanks

If it's burning oil when you get on it and spitting some out I would say it's the rings. If it just blew a little bit of smoke out when you started it up then quit I'd say it was the valve seals, but if it's spitting oil out it almost has to be the rings. If it was just rebuilt, mabey it didn't get broken in right and the rings didn't seat correctly, now it's smokin.:ermm:

now that i think about it could the oil weight have somthin to do with it?

I don't think oil weight should have anything to do with it. I just thought of something, I'm pretty sure you can do a compression check to tell weather or not the rings are sealing. Not a 100% sure though.

Thanks for help from those responses. does anyone know for sure if a compression test will tell if the leak is in the cylinder or if the rings aren't sealing. Any more suggestions or information would be great.
