I was wondering if anyone has put a FCR carb on a KFX400 or Z400. I was looking to get one off of a YFZ450 and see if it worked and what I would need to make it work. I know that the YFZ carb has an electrical plug on it, but I dont know what this is and if it is necessary if you install it on a z400/kfx400.

Thanks to anyone that can help.

I put a 41mm on my Z. it came off of a crf450. it had the electrical plug on it also. i took it off and plugged the hole with a piece of aluminum. this carb really brings the stock motor to like. i had to use the carb boot off of the bike and it fit right on my cylinder, it is a tight fit but once it is on you can adjust it how you want.

Did you use the stock cable? Also my motor is a Duncan Ported 435cc. Do you think I would need a 41mm like yours or would a YFZ 39mm work. Did you lose any bottom end?

Thank you very much. You have helped a lot.

I ordered an FCR cable from Baldwin and it worked fine. I had the 41mm on my stock motor. and it was ok. i know have it on my Thumper 470 and it has a ton of bottom end. it was a little tough to get it jetted right but i ot it right and it makes a big difference. I would prolly go with the 41mm. I think there is a 41 mm on here forsale for a Z or KFX. check in parts for sale. also i have a twist throttle on mine so you might have to get a different cable, but i am sure you can also get the cable for a thumb throttle. you might try C&D I am sure they can get you a cable.

Thank you michael18. You have been a great help. I already have an edelbrock carb however to use it, Duncan said that I needed to get a 300ex throttle with a trx90 lever. This is to keep it from being way too stiff on the thumb throttle. I dont want a stiff throttle in GNCC racing. I have ridden a 400ex with a FCR carb and the throttle was not too stiff, so I was thinking about going that route and selling the edelbrock.

Thanks again.

Has anyone else out there used an FCR carb with the stock thumb throttle on a z400 or KFX400? What cable do you need?

I would get a Honda throttle there all pretty similar. Then use a cable from a yfz.
