Re-posted from the ATVA official website:

November 2, 2004 – Four-stroke ATVs in 90cc racing classes will be allowed to have displacements as high as 125cc beginning in 2005 under a new rule approved recently by the AMA Congress.

Motorcycle classes have allowed for this bump in displacement for some time.

Under other new rules:

Engines won't be allowed to be downsized to qualify for the 200cc two-stroke/300cc four-stroke Youth Production class. For example, you can’t take a 250R and downsize it to 200cc and run it in this class.
In motocross, each ATV must have an individual gate—no sharing of a single gate. Apparently at some tracks, youth ATVs racers would share a single gate. If one ATV jumped the start, it would hold up both racers and not just the rider that jumped.
The definition of Production ATVs has been clarified. Under the rule about stock frames, Congress has added the following: "Only bolt-on components allowed."
The rule that referred to “suspension geometry” has changed a little for clarity also. It now reads: "ATV OEM frames in the stock and production classes may have material added for strength. These changes shall not affect frame geometry." The word suspension has been deleted.
If you have any questions about any of these rule changes, please contact ATVA Director Doug Morris at (614) 856-1900, ext. 1337.

So would the 300ex's with the bolt on shockmount brackets be allowed?

that really hosed the guys running the 300cc gasgas quads downsized with a factory 200cc cylinder.

somebody must have been upset about seeing them in that class.

You won't be allowed to use brackets on the frame to use longer shocks. Build brackets on the a-arms instead. That's what I done on my son's trx90.:ermm:

as the rule reads in in a production class, and the youth 13-15 is a production class, you can add bolt items, so if the shock mount relocater is a bolt on item them its clear, it bolts on. Plus the sentence about strengthning frame. last year is said you could as long as it doesn't change SHOCK geometry (that ruled out bolt or permenant relocaters) this year the sentence says Frame geometry).

Oh and the gas gas only raced three total times.

1 time at casey with a different rider....got stomped and broke

2nd time was with ricky stair who won the over all class, it broke in the first moto and he ended up racing his blaster

3rd was ricky stair at lorrettas and he stomped

BUT it wasn't the bike that stomped it was the rider that made it stomped, he stomped no better than he did win he was on his blaster.

so its a good rule to not allow them, saves some 14 year old kids alot of money like 15,000 gran

NOW if we can just squeeze in a 13-15 year old in GNCC
