Well as most of you know my truck got totaled because of a drunk driver last week. I have extensive personal injuries so iplan on the drunk's insurance company to make a nice settlement. However this wont be for a year. So for now I have nothing to drive.

Here are my two options:

A:When the insurance company says its totaled (which im positive they will say), i will then buy it back from them and get it fixed and make it drivable again just until i get some money to buy my next ride. I would then probably give it to my brother cuz i wouldnt get crap for a truck that has "Totaled" on the Reggie.

or

B:My uncles friend has the same exact truck (s-10 blazer) except its a 4 door. Is in great condition, but it has a blown motor.because of my circumstances hes willing to sell it to me for 300 bucks. I would then get a new motor for it, and keep it till I can afford something newer/bigger/nicer, then sell it.

what should i do? A or B?

thanks!
mike

B. I had similar damage to my s-10, you just dont want to go fooling with that, theres always something else you missed thats bent or broken.

i went to the ER for 6 hours after the accident, to my physician on friday, and to osteopathic rehabilitation. I have a fractured sternum, a bruis on my shoulder/chest from the seatbelt, and my neck and lower back are in spasm

every week i am going back to the rehabilitation twice

i would go with B.
the $300 and what it will cost for a rebuilt motor will probably be a good bit less than fixing your totaled one. it would also be an easier job to replace the motor compared to replacing all the damaged parts on the wrecked one.

because it already has 111,000k on it, my dad thinks this is a good oportunity to get a more reliable motor that will last long, so the person i hand it down to can have it for a while

It's a Chevy, don't worry about the mileage. As long as you took care of it, it'll last forever!

Go with A and B...buy it back and put the engine in the other Blazer. 111k is nothing!

is it a 4.3 or a 2.8? ive heard of plenty of 4.3s with 250k+ miles on them, Even still I had a 2.8 that ran great and burned no oil with 120k miles

yep, thats totaled... how extensive is the damage? any bent frame members, damage to steering components, wheel alignment, and hows the radiator? just wondering on how bad the damage to that is.

I'd need to see the truck in person, but that pic looks looks to me as I'd go with option A. Another question? Is the glass still good? Since there isn't a bag, you lucked out on another biggie.
