I would just like to say that mobil 1 (15W-50) red cap is the best oil i've seen yet. My quad seems to run great with it. I had one question in changing the oil on a 2003 400ex should you take the line off below the tank and take the plug out of the case to drop all the oil out or is there a certian procedure in doing this. Also when everything is drained does it hurt the motor to start it because it seems to me there is no oil in the casing when you drain it all out. I was just wondering if there is any kind of procedure you must follow. Thanks

I always warm my quad up for about 5 min., then pull the drain plug out of the bottom of the tank, then pull the plug out of the side of the case. Then after all of the oil drains out put the plugs back in and fill it with oil. Do NOT start the engine without oil in it, YES it will harm the engine. No oil + running motor = locked up motor!

I agree, mobil 1 15w-50 is the best oil I have ever run. And NEVER run the engine w/out the oil in it. You will have big problems

Can I use the Mobil 1 Red Cap in my Trailboss even though it isn't a wet clutch? Also what weight(10w40,etc...) when it is roughly 60-90 degrees?

:eek2: Why would anyone run their motor without oil?...WTF do you think the oil's purpose is in the first place?

I think he was asking will it hurt the motor after you drain the case oil. I was wondering this the other day too. When you drain the case you will have to wait for the filter to fill up and the oil pump to prime up good before it starts pumping normally.

I dont think he was asking could he run it without any oil at all. Just if the first start up after draining the case does any damage.

your bike actually runs better with different oil? i don't really see how that effects preformance, just maybe better engine protection. just keep it changed regularly and keep it full and your motor should last .

i think he is asking if you just fill the tank or tank and case, after draining oil out of both

basically what jjohnst03 said

if you drain the case oil too do you have to put more that the standard 1.95 quarts into the reservoir. cause i changed my filter, and did a complete oil change and whne i started it up again it got real hot real quick and it was also making a ticking sound. i opened the oil filter up again to make sure it was in right and it was and there was oil cycling through. this happen to any of you guys. thanks
