View Full Version : 400EX Plastic On a 250R

I own an 86 Honda TRX250R and I need some new plastic for it and I thought it would be cool to put 400EX plastic on my R, but I don't know how its done. I have seen it on 250R in the past but no one has ever explain to me or showed me how to do it. I tried taking my friend's 400EX rear fender and putting it on mine but it didn't fit right. I have a Clarke 4 gallon gas tank, would I have to put a 400EX gas tank on there in order to make it fit? I want to put the yellow 400EX plastic on my R. Its cheaper than the factory or the Fullbore 250R plastic. Can someone help me out or show me how its done? Thanks,

to put the front fenders on, you will have to put a 400 gas tank on. as for the rest, i have no idea:confused: :huh

Hey I am doing the same thing. Go to my site(its in my sig) you can kinda get an idea of what I had to do to make everything fit. A 400ex tank will not work on an R i dont belive. YOu might could use your clarke tank and just leave off the tank cover. I am interested in this part b/c I have a stock tank and it looks ughly and would like a 4 gal clarke but am not sure if it would fit. You will have to do some cutting on the 400ex seat to get it to work right. Trim the brackets and put a custom seat latch b/c the 250r holes are closer together than the ex. THe front is pretty easy to get it to mount on and I thought the rear was the hardest. I am not done with my R yet, its getting sandblasted as of now. Soon it will be powdercoated and then it goes back together.

Could someone make me some brackets? I'll buy them from someone. Could someone also make the other parts needed that might have to be welded on?

You can use the stock front brackets to mount the front. For the rest I suggest taking your ex plastic and seat and everything and take it to a machine shop and have everything lined up, help the guy doing it. The guy that did mine only charged me 20 bucks. Well worth it.
