raptor rear on 300ex

I am looking for a cheap rear shock up grade. I have been told a 01' raptor rear will work on a 300ex. Is it a direct bolt on or do you have to have different bushings/bearings for the shock?

As you can tell I am on a budget, so is this a recommeded mod until one can afford a good aftermarket shock?

Almost everyone on here will agree the raptor shock is a great(and cheap) upgrade for the 300ex. It is supposed to be even better than a Works shock.

I had an '87 250x and put an '01 Raptor shock on it and I tell you it was not the same quad after that. It was the best improvement I did to that machine.

Here are some helpful tips.
It has to be an '01 raptor with the remote rezzi.
I took all of the preload out of it ( I am only 155#)
I remember it being little snug installin it but it will go in.
Once installed dial in the clickers for your style riding and enjoy your new quad.

Note: if your under 200lbs, try a stock 400ex spring. If your over 200lbs then the stock Raptor spring will work pretty good.

cool, I just picked one up on ebay for $115 shipped. I'm looking forward to trying it out! I am going to try it with the raptor spring and see how it is. I'm a little over 200 plus riding gear.

For the 400ex shock conversion what would you need to do? Its an '04 300ex... Just figured since I am under the wieght you suggested for the two. Thanks

can you use an 02 shock or does the 01 only fit the 300?

only the 2001 model raptor shock will fit. you can find a 400ex spring on ebay or on this site. jeff can better explain how to remove the spring
