Get a full system right away. Most of the time you cant get an aftermarket head pipe to fit a slip on. The full system is a larger diameter. I have a Yoshimura TRS, it's bad ***.

I agree...the yoshimura system is bad, combine it with a hot cam stage 2 and a K&N air filter you will be putting out 45 hp...and that is dynoed not seat of the pants.

BOONE450R

the Yoshi is not as loud as the sparks. i don't know the dB's, but with the Yoshi you can get the quite tips to tone it down if its to loud for your taste.

my yoshi was quiet. The tri-oval kills alot of the sound, but it opens up when you get on the throttle hard.

LTE racing!

43-44hp rear wheel, with just the system.

Can get down to the Oregon dB standard of 92, with juat a minimal loss of power.

I've gotta say the Yoshimura tri oval full system is AWESOME!!!! I just installed it (took 10 minutes) and it is WHOA! I had the HRC kit installed previously w/ a 185main jet. I haven't rejetted yet & I don't know if I will but the power is incredible It hits the rev limiter so fast now even on the stock airplane gearing. Torque is also vastly improved especially down low where it needed it.

Damn, Yosh seems pretty popular, I love mine. I've got the Yosh with HRC and my buddy has HRC with Curtis Sparks and a K&N. The Yosh bike/stock air filters smokes the Curtis Sparks/K&N bike. We've switched with the same results. Listen to what I did. Rocky mountain ATV sells some cheap yosh system for $397. Dennis kirk sells the TRS for $470. I got Dennis Kirk to sell the the better system for $397, they checked Rocky Moutains website and didn't notice they were selling 2 different systems! ha ha.

yoshi out run the sparks...ya right...how does the yosh do with a modded bike vs the sparks on a modded bike...im sure the sparks rips it up...plus the sparks makes a big core muffler...for racing applications...that im sure would rip the yoshi up

You're in Kansas. I'm next to St Louis MO. Only one state away. Come see for yourself and if Sparks out runs Yoshi I'll pay for your gas.

Yep. My buddies bike is a 450R, HRC kit, Curtis Sparks stainless X-6, and a K&N. Mine is a 450R, HRC kit, Yosh TRS and stock air filter with the restrictive metal thing inside it. Mine is hands down faster. We've switched bikes, and let other riders race them. The Yosh wins 95% of the time no matter who rides them. Stock the were dead even so it's not that the bike with the Yosh was stronger stock. One I buy an air filter that should make mine even faster. I'm going with a Curtis Sparks air filter, ironic huh?
They do great in the woods, I sold my 03 400EX to get mine, I took a big hit since I the 400 new and only had it 10 8 months but it was worth it. I've been riding for fun for years and am just getting into racing. There a quite a few good places to ride/race in MO.

what are ytou talking about when you said the restrictive metal thing?

The inside of the stock air filter has that metal mesh inside of it. When you buy a new air filter you pull the old one off a metal sketeton and put the new one over it. I would say the bike can only suck air through about half of the filter, the rest is blocked by the metal mesh. The K&N has nothing inside it. I thought about cutting some of the metal away but I'm just gonna buy a Sparks. I was trying to find a picture of what I'm talking about but I couldn't find anythinig.

i know what you mean. i was thinking about drilling like 1 inch holes in that metal mesh thing, probably like 5 of them, maybe...

but then again i will probably have to mess with the jetting again, lol.

When they dynoed the full system they took the air box lid off and re-jetted, pretty shady.

how much hp does it add if you take lid off and just a slip on?

If your're just getting a slip-on for now, I like my HMF although I ended up putting the HRC kit to make it run better. I think the curtis sparks is godd but it is super LOUD!
Heres the HMF slip-on: http://www.geocities.com/lrentfrow76/DSC00020.JPG

No problem!! The main reason I went with NMotion was because everyone and their mom's have yoshi and sparks pipes. I wanted something different, and plus, they're made right here in Kansas!

I was a little worried about the bracket from the pics I first seen of it, but it's actually a very solid bracket. I'll see if I can find a better pic. Cause of it's small size, it's loud!! But it makes awesome power.

i have run the HMF, Sparks and White bros. on my 450r

all worked. all felt like they made power at different levels.

all 3 were LOUD...so bad infact im going back to stock.

ya the nmotions r made up in wichita i believe...i kno a guy who works with the owner...he makes some pretty nice stuff up there...and i notice ur in lenexa...u interested in racing the missouri hare scramble series next year? if not then how about riding sometime? :macho

11-30-2004, 09:16 PM
Hey pappy, why not try a Yoshi with their quietest core, or perhaps a LTE, I know they are heavy but very quiet.....I think they might even make a single exhaust for the 450R....I can't remember what they said when I talked to them. But of course the choice is yours, I'm looking for a quiter exhaust as well for when I ride the dunes. We all need to look for quieter exhaust to hault land restrictions.
