The 450R is not really an option now but really wanted to know if I can mod by 400ex to perform like the 450R. Would the 440 kit be a good start? What are my best choices for kits? Who are the major players? I would need someone to do the work for me as I'm not the type to do it myself. Are there companies that specialize in taking my motor and sending it back to me built?

Thanks in advance.

if at all possible i would go with the 450r. 440's are ok but the heat they put out is really bad and the 450r has way more power and the life expectancy for it is a lot better... the 416 kit with a lectron carb is a very good set up and if you have the skill will allow you to run with the big dawgs

Tell me more about this 416 kit. How much more HP over stock? Who sells it? etc.

cant tell you specs on it but i would get in contactw ith Rocky Ridge they sale the stuff for it. it with a lectron carb are one of the best set ups you can get top end dont increase that much unless you change sprockets but power through the gears is a whole new world

I haven't rode them but i some people say that the 450's aren't what they are cracked up to be

i dont now how the 440 over heat unless they were running lean???

if i had to do it all over again i would buy the wr450 motor and stuck it in my 400ex frame... it would have saved me bunches

or a ktm 525?? stick it in my frame...

the 450 power get really boring fast and their really not to much to do to them to make them any better after bore/stroke/pipe

What i mean is the 450 gain a whole lot of horse power when you add the first couple of aftermarket parts like airfilter/pipe/cam mod

after that everything is like 1-2 horses different.. then you before you know it you have a 2 grand motor and still could beat by a lightly modified yfz
