Well I know it was posted...like 2 years ago, but me and a friend finally gave it a try it works awesome!! just get a set of panty hose and slip one over your filter... I prefer black myself, lol.... later on you can give them to your wife or g/f for a christmas gift:p
But I ride a lot of ditches and I always had a problem with seeds from weeds get all over my filter, well this stops that, they just bounce off, and it seems to make it work better because the oil on the outside of the filter isnt catching the dust when it goes by, it only catches the stuff that goes into the filter.:blah: try it out.-darren

for as low budget as it is, it works really slick. I used it on one of my other quads when i had a K&N on it. I was tired of the seeds and small debris getting stuck in the cotton gauze and screen. It was easier to clean the filter when the time came...

Have you guys tried this on a UNI filter, or are you just talking about the K&N?

there is such an invention it is called a pre-filter/outerwear, they make them primarily for k&n filters for like $10, why not just get one of those, and stop playing with the pantyhose.

because it costs $10 for the outerwear when the pantyhose does the same thing for free...or almost:devil: I had an outerwear when I had my K&N and personaly I think that them filters are way over rated. That prefilter tore to hell so fast...

i second that. Yea, the pantyhose idea sounds kinda *****ish, but hey, it works great. IM assuming it would work good for the UNIS as well. But i found it most helpful on the K&N. I figure why pay the 10 bucks for the outerwear when you can use the panthose and they are alot cheaper and virtually do the same thing. My friend had the outerwears and they tore quick, pantyhouse.. yea it didnt tear. and if it would have.. you can just go pick up a bunch for cheap, or steal some from your wife/gf.

just for reference, the outerwear made for the 400ex's K&N does NOT fully fit on a UNI filter. the UNI is larger than the K&N is.

I used this on my Open aluminum box UNI filter... yeah like the other guys said, prefilter-10 plus shipping, this idea-4 of em for 2.50 and a trip to the local grocery store:o pick which ever you wish.-darren
