All 6-speeds. Even from the 1981 ATC250R.

Really ? i thought the 86's had the 6 speed and the others had 5 speed, or something like that, i dont think there all 6 speed.

I know for a fact that 85-89 250R motors were 6 speed. Not sure about 81-84 though

They are all 6-speeds. I've personally rode a 1981 ATC250R, 1984 ATC250R, 1986 TRX250R, 1987 TRX250R and I've owned a pair of 1985 ATC250R's.

82-84R'S were air cooled with 5 speeds. 85-89 liquid cooled with 6 speed. I have 1 83,1 84 and 1 86r. Thought this was common knowledge.

An 85 and 86 Suzuki LT 250r has a 5 speed tranny.

yea what esr said. Some people refer to the lt's as 250r's which confuses us honda guys. by the way I wasn't trying to be a smart***.:muscle:

I stand corrected. The air cooled were 5 speeds and the liquid cooled were 6-speeds. How do the air cooled models compare power wise to the 85-86? I have a 85 and I'm looking for an air cooled one.

The air cooled ones have plenty of power. Mine need more gear. I rev out in 5th with plenty of power to spare. Can't compare them to my 86 its been worked on and the air cooled ones are stock.
