Ever bend a tie rod?

I have bent about 4 or 5 tie rods in the time that I have owned my 400ex, I know that they are cheap to replace but it sucks having to stop rideing for the day and replacing them. I am planning on making some custom reinforced tie rods that should be a hell of a lot stronger, if I made a bunch would anyone be interested in buying them? PM me or post replying on thoughts about this...

Get some stock 250r tie rods . Ive hit lots of crap since i got my 400, havent bent a tie rod though.

Dont buy stock tie-rods

I bent mine when I rolled my quad, I didn't notice it until I replaced the suspension.

ARS/FX or Gibson, or etc have some nice BEEFy stainless tie rods with big ole' hex adjustments, last tie rods that you buy, then you'll start breaking tie rod ends.

I think your nuts. If you are running a stock a-arm setup and you dont buy stockers your just plain qwazy. A: they are cheap{no more then $7 for a 400ex a piece} B: design was supposed to have the tie-rod as a weak point so you dont break other stuff. C: You should be happy if you only bust $7 parts. D: a stock tie-rod is easily bent back to "a temporary rideable condition" if your not too far from a good hammer. Reaper

it gets old buying stock tie-rods. and i own a KFX400 and the stock tie-rods are junk. "as for temporary riding condition" i dont think thats to smart or just a good way to mess something else up.

I always just bend them back as good as I can. Just because they are a little bent they are still strong! Take one off and try a bend one in a vise without heating it. They are still strong if you staighten them. I agree with REAPER though they are a weak point for a reason.

250 "R uh" tie rods are the cat's ***. They're easily twice as strong as stock EXers.....and fairly cheap compared to aftermarket.

Who hasn't bent a tie rod? If you ride in the woods it'll happen. I've only bent one on my 400 and that was just a very slight bend. When I had 400 arms on the 300 I bent 4 of them. But that was just a bad setup. Tie rods are cheap, designed to be a weak spot for something to bend, with heavy duty tierods, something else will bend instead of the tierods.

He is right, stock tie rods are cheap.
I would much rather bend them instead of tie rod ends or spindles with heavy duty tie rods.

i buy them 3 at a time, so when i bend them i can still ride that day. beter to bend them, than break something else.
