For the first time in over 10 years, youth racers were entered into the GNCC series. The young riders brought alot of attention to themselves and the sport and on behalf of the riders, the families and the sport itself, i would like to offer our deepest thanks to Racer Productions.

The overall winner would be none other then Walker Fowler aboard his Hetricks kasea 90. Walker did an excellent job of showing he has what it takes to be the best! He rode a great race and we offer him our congradulations for being the winner of the Ironman GNCC race!

Finishing second overall and taking the win in 90 Limited Production was EXRiders own Brandon Boso! Brandon was also the winner of the new Kasea 90!

Brandon rode his Polaris to the front but never could get close enough to pressure Fowler. On a scheduled pit stop, his quad ran out of gas a 100 yards short of the pit and cost him valuable time.

In any event he deserved his class win and will be a great racer to watch propel this sport in the future.

Kyle Riley Teter worked his way from almost dead last on the start to claim 3rd overall and 2nd in limited production. Kyle rode to within 15 seconds of catching Boso but at the end he would come up just short.

Kyle was all smilies as he took his trophy and memories that will last a life time away from this excellent race!

Cody Hill made the trip and was able to claim 5th overall and 2nd in 90 Youth Production. The dead engine start caused him and other honda 90 riders a big disadvantage but he rode smart and hard to work his way thru 2 rows of his class, and was able to get past the 90 Limited class to take home wood.

Exhausted, cold and covered in mud, Cody looks at his friends on the Podium immediatley after the race. Something tells me the determination in this kids eye's will keep him up front

EXRiders.com would like to offer our gratitude to the following for supporting our efforts to give the lucky winner a new 2004 Kasea 90 Skyhawk.

The membership that generously donated what it could. You guys are what makes this site #1. I thank you for your vision of what we can do for this sport and the riders of tomarrow.

The companies that also wanted to be part of this. C & D Racing, Burgard Cycle, The Quadshop, Derisi Suspension, Distinctive Chrome, Cario Stack, GT Thunder, Klotz, Outlaw Racing. Hetrick Racing and more that will be named as soon as we can get a full listing.

You guys truly are the sports backbone and I thank you. Several of these companies showed they are willing to support youth riders in the GNCC series and I suggest we all pull together to show Racer Productions how strongly we feel for the future of our sport.

Again, I cant begin to express how thankfull I am for your generosity, caring and support.

GT Thunders "Laz" chats with Cody Hill before the start. GT Thunder installed a new piston in Cody's engine the day before the race which Cody felt gave him more power to help work his way thru the field.

About 10 minutes before the race started, a downpour started that lasted the entire hour of the race!

Chris Borich was up early and on the track for the 8:30 am start. It was really exciting for the kids to see the pro riders watching them! Riders like Chris Borich are a role model for these kids and I would like to thank him for being out there in the rain to show his support!

90 cc Limited production was on the front row and ready to get started. Riders had different ways of getting thier quads fired for the dead engine start.

The green flag waved and it was this rider on a LT80 getting a great start. The non-electric start quads were still on the line at this point.

Kyle Riley Teter finally fired his ride and was off!

30 seconds after the front row took off, it was the 90cc Youth Production class. This class was staged 2 rows deep, end to end, and looked to be a wild ride to the first turn.

Once again the electric start models pulled out an early lead. The cheers from the spectators almost drowned out the heavy down pour of rain!

#776 Cody Hill trys to fire his pull start Honda 90 as the rest of the class heads off to tackle the 1.5 mile course

Finally all the quads were running and the race was on!

The 70cc class was set to go and it would appear the race to watch would be between Micheal Mussi (green arctic cat) and Austin Findley (red Kasea)

Pappy

When the flag dropped, it was a drag race between the 2 Hetrick powered machines.

Austin won the days battle and took home the 70cc class win!

nearing the end of the first lap, the faster riders began picking up positions in the field sections

The dated Honda 90 can still deliver a potent dose of power and provide a durable machine to the young racers

Pappy

Cody Hill had worked his way up in 1 lap. right after this picture, a slight hesitation allowed the rider on the Kasea to take the spot.

"After the first lap I learned the layout and didnt hesitate any more" Cody later stated

Rider #34 gets ready to re-enter the woods

The small amount of extra fender protection would come in handy as the rain continued to fall and track conditions became worse.

The track continued to get soaked with that thick Indiana mud

Brandon Boso sets the pace for his class as he remained out front

Pappy

This Eton rider works his way thru the woods. The course offered enough to challenge most riders.

Pappy

Ground clearence thankfully wasnt too much of an issue on this course. the mini quads usually have about 5 to 6 inches at best

Pappy
10-24-2004, 11:26 AM
Walker Fowler out front and on the move.

Pappy
10-24-2004, 11:28 AM
Kyle Riley gives me a look as he keeps pace with class leader Boso.

Pappy

Cody Hill riding smooth and consistant, does his best to work thru the field trying to catch Walker.

Pappy
10-24-2004, 11:31 AM
Fowler in the fields was un touchable. Hetricks power and PEP shocks give him the power and handling he needs to walk away from the field.

Austin Findley hammers his quad and tries to hold Mussi at bay

Pappy
10-24-2004, 11:35 AM
After getting highsided and stuck Mussi was off the pace. Finally giving in to thumb fatigue he was out of contention. No matter, this outstanding young rider posseses skills that will get him on the podium soon!

Lap after lap, Cody Hill just kept coming. Fowler was out of his reach by lap 13 but he earned his 2nd place finish and we are all very proud of him.

Mussi leaves the barrels as the rain hits even harder

Pappy

Thats how close the action was for the lead in the 70 class!

Pappy

With the race over, this rider showed how hard it was on these young riders. He wore his knee clean out:p

For all the riders, congradulations no matter how you finished. It was AWESOME seeing you guys race!

EXR: What did you think when you found out you would be able to race in a GNCC?

Cody Hill: "I thought it was great that the kids would get a chance to race on the national level. I was just happy to be part of it".

EXR: How was the track and did the weather affect you?

Cody Hill: " the track was slick. There was some ruff spots and the weather just made me feel like i weighed 500 pounds! I think they did a good job on the track, I just wish it was longer"

EXR: You got a pretty bad start, how did that change your race stratagy?

Cody Hill: " It stunk! I couldnt battle for the lead or pressure the leader until I went past 2 classes of riders. "

EXR: Is there anyone you would like to thank?

Cody Hill: " I would like to thank everyone from the Quadshop, Traci Cecco and Chris Borich for being there at the start of the race. Also a big thanks to GT Thunder's MR. Laz for giving me the extra power I needed to get up front."

EXR: What are your plans for next season?

Cody Hill: " Ride Ride and Ride". This year was a learning year for me. Next season I expect more from me.

Cody is 11 years old and has been racing quads for almost a year. He has several top 5 finishes in his local series, 1 win in an NQRA race and now a 2nd in the GNCC race. He is a straight A student in Hedgesville Middle School.
