I just put the stage 2 along with a wiseco 11:1 piston, and a GT Thunder rev box, and it all made a huge difference. From what I have read, many get large gains on the mid to top end with the stage 2, but lose a little on the low end. To take care of this, the larger compression piston is used, which gains back some of that low end and more. My 400ex no pulls harder in any gear, and revs quicker. It is like a whole new machine. I love it!

my buddies bike ran better with the stage 1 cam than the stage 2. however, he was only running a R4 slip on. he just put a hmf full system on and it has way more power now. i was extremely impressed with what a difference it made. he does have a 406 too. i think i would go with stage 1 on a stock piston. by the way, i have one for sale if your interested.

So if i was to get a complete pipe and get a stage 2 it would do better?

Im thinkin so.. With the stuff i have done, i had a IDS2 slip on that came with my bike, and i just bought a full series HMF. Cant wait to ride. from everyone i have talked to, i will be amazed.

I don't know if you can run the stage 2 with a stock piston. Not enough compression for the low end. Go with a 416 JE 10.8:1 piston, and the stage 2 hotcam, you will be very happy;)

yeah, even with a full pipe i dont' know how the stage 2 will do. i think it will be fine if you have a good pipe and you will need a rev box too, well i guess that depends on the riding you do. if you ride in trails, don't go with the stage 2 in my opinion. if you ride in open areas were you don't need much power at low rpms, the stage 2 might be fine.

a stage 1 will work fine you will get a all around performance but have to settle with alittle ticking noise. but if you want alittle more grunt then go with a stage 2 and piston upgrade whether its a high compresion piston that fits in the stock bore like i did or bore it out to a 416,426 or 440 that is up to u and how much u have spend but either cam you cant go wrong

I've got a Big Gun full Race exhaust, cdi box, jet kit, and k&n with no lid. I just added a stage 2 cam and no problems, bottom end is still torquey (with help of 14t spocket) and the mid to upper range is phenomenal.
