Hey just wanted to get some inputs on what would be the top speed of my 05 TRX 450R(Black Stunna) with HRC kit and low profile Hoosier Racing tires on a long pavement strip going full speed topped out in fifth gear? I haven't had a chance to see for myself because where I'm located there aren't that many places to open it up. Thanks for any inputs.

I have an HRC kit with Yosh TRS exhaust and stock sprockets/tires and I can hit the rev limit in 5th. I'd say around 80-85 mph.

Yeah thanks for the input but I don't have an after market exhaust for mine yet so I'd guess around 80mph with what I do have? HRC kit, low pros Hoosier racing tires, Black Blingstar bumper!

If you have smaller back tires that will lower your top speed, my tires are stock.

mine hit 69.9mph on the dyno with the hrc kit and 13t front sprocket. so with the 14t stock sprocket it would hit about 73 i would say.

22 inch tires & a 14tooth sprocket & I did 78

i have a hrc with stock exhast and stock sprocket and gears
i have 3/4 of a mile that is strait wright next to the interstate and i can pass people with easy. but i dont now how fast they are going so ya at least 75 maby 80.

mine did 74.5 in 5th on the dyno with stock gearing, and flat track tires, before it hit the rev limiter...it doesnt matter what you have done to the motor, the rev limiter always kicks in at the same rpm, unless youve done something with the rev box/ignition.

I couldn't hit the rev limit in 5th when mine was stock. The top speed was limited my wind resistance now the top speed is limited by RPM.

Do you have Flat Trak Racing tires on yours or regular tires? And is it really true that the smaller the back tire is the lower the top speed is?

If you're talking to me I have stock tires and smaller back tires do lower your top speed. You don't get as far each time the axle rotates if that makes sense. It's kinda the same affect as gearing the bike down, aka 13 tooth sprocket.

are you seriouse?:huh maybe with about a 75mph head wind. i hit rev so quick on mine when it was stock it started to piss me off.
you cant judge speed by trying to keep up with cars. put it on a dyno and find out the truth. i had a kid try telling me he clocked his banshee at 92mph with a car. i raced him and he didnt go any faster than me. so he maybe hit 71mph.
out of all these quads listed so far i would have to say jumbo's is the fastest set up with stock gearing and bigger tires. i believe 78, but nothing would hit more than that.

HRC kit, followed by an S2000, mine hit 78 and didnt go any farther. doesnt bother me that much, i have a banshee for speed and the R for MX & FMX.

thats probably the closest answer. although i would agree with 74mph also, because i doubt they are all going to hit the exact same. i would give a 2mph cusion.

Whats Up,

The stock 450r has run 71-73mph tops on our dyno. I have seen 80-83mph with an all stock bike with just a cdi change :eek2:
With the set up you have I would say 68-70mph depending on the size tire you have. The smaller the tire the slower the top speed. Example: My 440ex with a stock gearing and tires(20's) will run 71mph on my dyno. I put 22in Razr's on and it ran 81 with stock gearing. There's about a 10mph difference with just 2inches on the tire size.

Yeah I have 18 inch Hoosier L-trak tires on the back and 18.5 on the front with HRC kit, just trying to get some idea on how fast she would go? Thanks for the input.

the stock 450r has VERY flattrack friendly gearing...i didnt change my gearing all year... it was perfect most of the time. still cant holeshot though:huh :huh :huh

Hey there Mobile Dyno what do you mean by a cdi change on that bike that did 80mph?

hey how about if you get a Trail Tech (i think) speedo dash? How accurate are those? I think that if I had a speedo on mine I wouldn't get out of 1st gear

with the etrex my buddies stock r did 77 on pavement. My raptor did 81 with a 14 tooth stock. I might take the gps home this weekend and receck em we have both done stuffi might go back down to a 13 tooth.

I have the HRC kit, K&N power up kit, and White Bros carbon fiber pipe and I could not get pass 78mph due to it bouncing off the rev limiter. So basically it doesn't matter what you have on your quad, it's not going past the rev limiter. I'm probably going to by the new Vortex Cdi (I hear it's a good cdi) and I will post the results.

4LEAFCLOVER
10-27-2004, 04:42 AM
How much does that Vortex CDI cost and how much does the average CDI cost? How much faster will a change of CDI's make the average bike go? I'm just worried that if I change the CDI it will harm my motor. Let me know how it is soon as you can okay. Thanks alot.

no way possible...maybe the civic had really small wheels and it messed the speedo up but i highly doubt it

my 450R has stock tires, 13 tooth front sprocket, HRC kit, and HMF ballance pipe.

at the 1/8th mile asphalt track i ran a 8.85 ET @ 72.81 mph.

i was consistantly running in the 8.8-8.9 range around 72 mph.

i was just hitting the rev limiter when finishing.
i know with the 14 tooth sprocket "stock gearing" i could hit around 78- 79 mph.

a pipe and cam really bring this quad to life.

When mine was on the Dyno stock gearing and Dyno tires which are smaller than my Razor's HRC kit, Gt thunder pipe, I hit 72mph when the rev limiter 1st kicked in and top's was 74mph.

So with the bigger tires maybe 76-78mph or so?

I did my 1st XC race this past weekend, well they had a 1.5 mile car road course as part of the track. It was asphault and there was 1 long straightaway that we was able to rev out in 5th gear. They had a Speedo up showing how fast you were going as you drove by it.

I hit 76 MPH w/ 20 inch rear tires and stock gearing on the 3rd lap, while consistently hitting 72 and 73 on the previous laps. I was still pulling the gear when I passed it too but I hit the brakes because I had a corner. I'd guess a 450R w/ stock tires and gearing will push 80 MPH easily.

Just my input....

the stock tires are 20 inches:confused:

I did 78.5 MPH with Razr's 20X11X9 rear and 22X7X10 front. I was on a smooth dirt road. I was running stock gearing 14/38 with and HMF full system. I had a slightly modified lid, stock air filter and a 155 main. This is clocked with a Garmin GPSIII mounted to my handle bars. Doesn't get much more accurate than that. It actaully felt like I had a little more to go, but it was getting a little squirlly so I let off.

different tires have different "growth"rates at speed. just cause it says 20" doesnt mean it is at over 70mph

congradulations guys...this whole page is right on the money!!

it doesnt matter your motor mods

its all in the gearing

stock gearing is only going to go so fast then thats it
more power will get you to that certain speed quicker
but it wont take you faster

if you have low pro hoosiers on there then you might actually
runner slower than stock
