Predator vs. 416ex

I don't even have my 416 together yet and already got a guy on a stock '04 Predetor that wants to race. He seems to think he is just gonna smoke the 'lil ole 400ex in a drag race. :rolleyes: so as soon as I get it broke in I am going to head out to race this guy. I've never ridden a Predator nor had much experiance with them. I think he's gotta be smokin' something to think he's gonna outrun my 400. The Predator is supposed to be all stock and my 400 has a 416 with 10.8:1 JE, Fully ported head, Curtis Sparks full system, TC racing woods cam, K&N, no lid and choke delete.

he even offered to race title for title :huh I could be wrong but I am pretty confident I am gonna completly blow his fenders off! So what do yall think?

Be careful man, the predator's are a very fast quads. Even stock. A lot depends on the rider, so good luck.

Hopefully you smoke him, but i wouldn't race for "slips"

Not to worried about the rider part. I know I can ride and I am taking into account that more than likely he can ride too so hopefully it will come down to he who has the better machine. I also think I will go down a tooth on the front before this race. Well I wasn't going to race for slips anyway even if I knew I would win. Just takes the fun out of it. Maybe a nice c-note though. Glad to hear they are fast should be a good race then.

the predators deff. have some pep i have an 03 and my 440

i think the predator will smoke you..ive seen them drag race and they are quick...tkae him into the woods or MX track and he might as well be on a stock banshee...you'll def. have an advantage then

it depends where you race, wide open on a dragstrip or somethin the pred might take the lead, i dont know what your accel rate or top speed is though, so i dont know. on a trail or mx race you could take him. i have 2 friends with preds and those things are fast...even stock (04 and 04TLE pred), one thing i noticed is are you running a stock pipe? if so, take the end cap off unless its really dry (all it is is a spark arrestor and kinda silencer). but be careful about it, while it has back pressure, you might heat up the headpipes very fast, and i dont want you starting a fire cause of no spark arrestor.

Don't get your hopes up too early their kid, the Pred's are pretty quick even in stock form. You might just get your arse beat.

my guess is that you should get him in the first 4 gears, but after that the pred will take over. the top speed of the preds are quite a bit higher than the 400. if you want to win, make sure to keep it relatively short.

I have an 02' 400ex and I have recently raced a predator. All I have is ITP holeshots (front and rear), we raced on an open road and I jumped out at first. Through third gear I was still ahead AND SURPRISED, but as soon as I shifted to fourth he passed me and there was no catchin' up.:(
I think with all you have in yours, you might have a pretty good chance. Let us know how it works out!

I totally LOVE my Honda. but we have both the Predator and the Honda(mine is a 426 with all the trimmings:devil: )and I xan get off the line faster than he canBut.... he can blow by me in a 4th gear wheelie while I in 5th gear pinned:huh :o :grr: My honda is not slow. But its slower than a Predator...

i eat predators in a 300ft drag with no sweat, anything after that there's no chance without running taller gearing and even still if i went to taller gearing then i'd loose on bottom and wouldn't be able to catch him on top besides drag racing is for sissy's who gives a crap :o

I raced a few predators with my 416 cam,pipe,filter,porting, ect and it basically came out to an even race or whoever got the best start won.

Woods or mx? What are you talking about.
The predator is one of the best handling stock quads out there right now .. they are a little heavier then the rest but they can still hold their own on the track.

Yeah with all the suspension mods to the ex you should have a problem on the mx track. I raced d6 xc and there is one guy who really gives me some competition on his predator they really are some good handeling and ballsey quads. I know they can be very fast woods quads but really havenot seen to many on the mx course I heard they kind of jump like a raptor which I know dont have the jump the best.

with my mods in signature, i can outrun a predator through all of the gears, but the predator has more top end then mine so after awhile of running wide open, he could slowly catch up

but from a dead stop i could holeshot the predator pretty good and keep about 2-3 bike lengths ahead of it

yall must not be racing good riders. i have NEVER been beaten by an ex, or a 450r. my predator (when stock) was faster than my 400ex w/440 kit, je 13:1 piston, hotcam, hmf exhaust, open airbox. ive raced several 440s and spanked them. then only things ive been beat by is yfzs, and a yoshimura z450, and one modded v-force gave me trouble, as i won 3 of 6 races.

I know there's no way in heck he'll catch me in the woods all I care about is the drag race right now. He already declined my offer to race on a woods track. ;)

I raced a predator on my cousins 03 kfx with a yoshmira sp? pipe and a few other engine mods like airbox and stuff and beat him in like an 1/8 mile race. beat him. then he flew past.

predator and yfz are really close in a drag, and i know a 440 isnt close to a yfz after you hit 3rd g ear, thats a duncan 440 national motor.....i think predator shouldnt have a problem walking away from most of the other quads , yes its a polaris but it is fast

with my slip on, no lid, k&n rejet and 14/39 gearing i can beat some predators in 300 foot grass drags. if it was longer theyd eventually pass m,e tho.

hmmm, preds are known to have bad traction....wonder what would happen on asphault, or with my razr 2's???:confused: , not raggin the 400's, heck i have one, but the pred is a far superior machine
