Im goin to rebuild my 400ex now and ive decided to do it myself, I dont know much about this kind of thing so i have a few questions

1. Im trying to decide between a high compression on the stock bore, a 416 or a high compression 416... what would you all reccomend?

2. will i notice a difference on a high compression with the stock bore?

3. if i go with i 416 does anything need to be done to the head or do i just have the cylinder bored?

4. For high compression is 50/50 pump gas/cam 2 ok?

5. if i go with a 416 is there any thing besides pison, rings, gaskets, and having the sleeve bored that i absolutely need to make it work?

any help or other tips will be greatly appreciated thanks

I've had my 400 with a stock bore high compression piston and you can notice the power. Anytime you up the cc there will be greater power. My best friend has the same quad with a 440 and I can tell the difference in the bigger bore. I am now big boring my bike. If you want to save money, don't get a big bore, just have it punched out to a 416 high compression. Your going to have to hone it anyways for a new piston to seat right, while it's at the machine shop anyways have it bored. You don't have to do any head work. If you do, the cheapest thing is a hotcam, and you don't have to use different springs or rockers with that cam. I used a stage 2.
