What kind of tire is best?? Smooth, mohawk style our ribbed(single or double like the sand stars). Also what is the best size? for a 400ex. 21x7x10 or 22x8x10? Any help would be great. Ive always duned with stock tires up front but thought I might try some duners this year. How much better do they perform than the stockers?? Thanks, Eric

i have never used my stock tires in the dunes, but i have used the 22x7x10 sandstars and i love them, they are great no complaints

I have dune runners (single rib that is curved down the middle) It's a wide tire and also tall, VERY stable.. floats over EVERY thing in the sand.. I love it.

My brother has sand stars (double rib in center) These tires hook VERY hard.. and I mean it.. you turn and you turn that way and fast, no joke.. I rode his quad and noticed such a difference it made me feel I was going to flip because i usually turn a lot harder than he does. One thing I do not like is the fact that if its rough out in the sand, it seems to want to "pull" in other peoples tracks.. He loves them, I can't deal with that. I like mine a LOT more.

I don't know the difference, but there is one. I have two bikes, one with one without, when riding in the bowls they handle differently. If I forget which one I'm riding, I turn a little wide and less sharp. For whatever thats worth.

If you are on the hammer, 90% of the time your front tires will be off the ground and it doesn' t matter!!

I have the kenda ribs up front on my crf and stock front s on my 450r but the ribs turn a little better but the stockers work fine just need a little body movement which is half the fun...Chris

I have ribbed (shark fins) on my EX and I love them compared to using stockers. I think mine are 21". I wish I would have gotten the 22" though in hind sight. As far as mohawk and smooth, I don't know, never ridden on them? Either of the three would be better than running stockers, plus they look a hell of a lot better.

Happy duning.

I have the skat trak mohawks, and i love them, turn on a dime and glide right over sand...most of my group uses these, smooth buffs are for sand drags
