View Full Version : Newbie to 400EX (2002)

Hello All,

I just purchased a 2002 400EX (my first quad) and noticed that when I turn over the motor with the clutch lever pulled in and the transmission in first gear; the bike slightly jumps forward. I adjusted the clutch lever free play to 1/2 inch with no improvement.

Is this normal behavior for the 400EX?

The clutch might just stick some.

yeah. sometimes you gotta roll it back and forth a little when its in gear like that to free up the clutch plates, i wouldnt worry about it or shift to neutral if it bothers ya.

Sometimes when the engine is cold the clutch will stick like that until the engine warms up.

It is not unusual my Warrior and my cousin's 400ex does it when it is cold ;)
