I don't know how you could "fab up" a conversion kit. In order for it to be liquid cooled water jackets have to be cast into the block and the heads.

It would take a completely new block and a new head that were built with a water cooled system in mind.

would also need a gear somewhere in the bottom end to run a water pump to move the water around in the engine and out to a radiator.......it aint gonna happen

yeah i realize that but someone told me that they read that someone makes a cylinder that you bolt with some other additions like a waterpump to convert it over to liquid cooled and I was wondering if he was full of sh*t cus I can't find any one that makes a kit like that and I run and small quad business on the size and generally hear about stuff like that sooner than most

Yeah, it's safe to say that he's full of it.

It's kind of like when my cousin tried to tell me a friend of his converted a 2 stroke motor into a 4 stroke. :huh

yeah i telling you man this guy is like one of the my good customers and he was saying someone like sparks or someone that does it and it works. in my own thoughts I think that it is pretty much impossible but he was pretty sure of him self and was describing how the water pump is ran off the oil pump gear and on and on i just cant bring myself to believe it though

I read an issue of dirt wheels back a couple of years ago that told of a 500cc liquid cooled motor kit for a 400ex. Sorry, I am not sure who makes it or what issue it was in, but I know that i remember seeing it..........

i think mickey dunlap did work on one. however, he said it was too expensive and too much of a pain to do. he mentioned he has had good luck with his oil cooler.

STF and Gibson racing in Thornville, Ohio made one. I am not sure how they did it but the jug was all goofy looking like a wedge for splitting wood. I know it was all custom from the jug up. If I got time I will stop and talk to them today and see what was up with it. The last I heard about it was there was some girl running it in a laeger or arens custom frame and she was whipping but?

But I know it was fully custom so it might not have even been a 400ex bottom end.

that helped out a whole lot.. some people like their 400ex over the yfz /r !!! heck i know of a guy that likes his warrior over the z/pred/r/vforce/yfz and he could buy all of them if he wanted..

i would just go to yuour local part store and buy a transmisson cooler and bolt it up...

(sorry i tried to find those old threads where people have done that but couldnt find it using the search button.. i think it was like three years ago a couple of people used a tranmission cooler and bolted it up in front of the stock cooler...)

It's possible to fabricate a complete new cylinder and head for liquid-cooling, but it would end up probably a $2500 kit, and with the newer 4-strokes around, I don't thing you could find enough demand for it to even make it marketable.

the kit that micky made for the 400ex i think he used a electrick water pump it is possable to do a water cooled conversion you just gotta know what your doing and have a few extra cylenders (sp) around
