Jealousy is not the word, pity is. I can honestly say i feel sorry for people whos parents go out and buy them an expensive first car. i am only 17 and have owned a grip of vehicles i have worked my *** off for.

I never came from money, so when i was 14 i started working for the things i have/had. I am not feeling sorry for myself, i feel proud for my self, and thankful my parents raised me how they did. to work for what i want. I see soo many people who get there first vehicles payed for, and will say all day long they will take care of them, and dont.

right now, i have one of the nicer vehicles of the students at my high school, and i have payed for every cent of it, including everything I have done to it. some people might not like it, but i Bought it, and Built it with my own money and my own sweat and blood

I thought it was bad when my friend payed $8000 for 2001 cougar with all the riced out mods. After i drove it i said " yeah i guess it was fair that you payed 8, but still a little high". But 20,000 for a civic with about $1000 of parts that make it look fast, my 96 F-150 with a v-8, Exhuast and 169,000 miles can wreck that car. That guy prob took that money so fast and went out and bought a real car like a chevelle or another mid year muscle car. Dont mean to blow up your spot but, i suggest that when the time comes that you actualy have to buy something with your own hard earned money, you might not want to be so gullable and learn a thing or two about pricing.

I'd love to know where the 7,000 was spent. No system, so that rules it out. You say it has a little more than a CAI... what are the mod's? For 7,000 that better have a worked over VTEC motor and turbo kit - atleast that!

...and again, even if it did, $20,000 is way too much for a highly modded "used" car that could very easily end up being a money pit. (Most modded used imports are - used and abused) - keep that in mind!

im with ya. i don't see the point of people bashin away at the kid on the INTERNET for gosh sakes. he likes his car. he's proud of it. i don't necessarily agree with parents buying everything, but like was said before, if someones parents gave them a car, any car, i doubt they would complain. my parents bought a 93 chevy berretta gtz bout a year and a half ago when my brother got his license. car is all white. white 5-spoke wheels that resemble iroc wheels. nice stereo & speakers. the 3.1 V6 had some decent balls for a stock motor. pretty fun to roar around the country roads in. really nice car. we still have it. brother drove it when he wanted, but it wasn't his car-meaning if mom needed it, he couldn't say no. he also couldnt modify anything in it. my parents want it kept stock. i could either drive it, or buy myself something. so i went out and bought myself a truck.my parents arent made out of money and can't afford to insure their van (chevy w/ 350) and the car.(bro paid insurance on the car) so i'll pay my insurance and the car will sit behind the garage next to the 78 thunderchicken im re-doing.
so i sold the 400ex and saved my money for 2 years to be able to afford my 95 dodge dakota. it's got green pearlcoat paint that appears blue in certain light, silver rockers. chromed rollbar, KC offroad lights, BFG all terrain tires (expensive effers:eek2: )new heartthrob dual exhaust, lund visor, and a few cheap 8'' subwoofers so i can crank up the country music loud enough to hear it over my exhaust.:p

now, to me, this truck kicks arse, but to the kid with the civic, it sucks arse. i don't expect to be bashed over my truck, and i won't bash him or anyone else over their vehicle.

Nope. The revamped body style came out in '94 amd they kept the 5.0 until '95. My roomate drives a 95 GT with a 5.0. In '96 they kept the body style but went with the 4.6

I love it when they call the piece of plumbing before the throttle that goes to the air filter an intake. I Love it when then say they got a cold air kit a k&n and exhuast So it pushin 40 hp over stock. I went to UTI, I took their street legal performance classes, i dyno'd cars like that, did one mod at a time and dyno'd then ran mutiple mods on the dyno. I found that you lose about 10 hp and gain mabey 3 ftlbs .

My first car was a 81 toyota tercel that i paid 120 for. I didnt give a phuck what it looked like. Its was exactly the type of car you need to get for your 1 st. It was too slow and to small to get into any trouble. Well now i am ase master certifeid. I work on cars for a liveing. I can afford n e car under 50,000, but i hatecars so i drive a beater that i paid less the a grand for and put over 56,000 mi onand not had to put any money into it other than oil, and filter. I spent more money on my quads exhuast then i did for my car and its the best car in the world.

Why couldn't a good stereo system be considered a mod? Last time I looked, a mod (Modification) was anything that was changed from factory original.

Also, maybe some people would think that a a 95 mustang GT 5.0 with a sweet blown 302 and tranny is a piece of crap and the person that bought it got ripped.

My sister had her car for about 10 months before her license I believe...who cares, she got to drive and get used to her car before she was let loose by herself in it. What do you mean "a car like that"? Its a stock civic with a body kit. Front wheel drive and like 150 hp...how hard is it to keep in the road? I got a Mach-1 for my first car...its got almost 14k on it now and it hasnt been crashed. I know plenty of guys and girls my age who haven't had an incident in their first car...or second car.

You settle back down to the speed limit, and ten seconds later, you're treated to a 100-mph "fly by," smiling 'cause you're sure he's already on the phone telling his friends how he dusted your big-block Chevelle. All you Ford, Chevy, Mopar, and AMC guys can relate--on the street today, it's us versus them.
Now before you get all riled up, know that we're not so naive as to think that we're invincible to every import car. We've been mopped up by enough modded Supras and RX-7s to know and respect their reputations on the street and track. Anyone driving a serious street machine is a friend of ours. you know the sad thing is you spent 20 grand on a civic and i have 5 cars including a 99 cobra, 84 z-28, a 70 nova, 93 jeep cherokee, and a 94 toyota pickup and i still dont have 20 grand in all those cars combined. i bought all of them with damage and repaired them you would have been better off buying something else you got ripped off son.
