does the hotcam stage 1 use a decompressor? if not what does it use?

you remove the decompressioner on the 400ex hot cams

No, the hotcam does not use a decompressor, you have to remove it while doing the installation of the cam. Some say it's a little harder to start, but I've had not problems what so ever with mine.

yes, just drop the hotcam in as it is. also, remove the spring and plunger in the head because the hotcam does't use this. if you dont' remove it, it will likely fall out of place and could end up somewhere you don't want it.
