yeah they will bolt up, but i think the r shock is about a half inch longer. they would work, just not perfect.

So the fronts should work out fine but the rear might not, correct??

the rear wont work, and the fronts i would think be all right. i know the 400 elka/works/pep/axis shocks wont work on the 450r because of not being valved right, but i havnt heard of anyone saying anything about the 450r shocks on the 400 yet. i would think you can get away with it.

Thanks for your input "allmixedup047" I'll have to look into the fronts a little more to make sure.

On less there's any one else out there that has tried putting the front 450r shock on they're 4ooex??

ya r shocks will fit in the ex but the front end will sit a half inch lower

you have to grind the top of the shock down to fit into the upper frame mounts

i know you can get 450r shocks off ebay for like 100bucks or less. then you could send them off to colby at c&d and have him rebuild them. i bet they would be kickass shocks for the 400. he uses all elka parts and makes them triple rate with ssd if you want, so that might bring your ride hight back down. you may want to get in contact with him and just shoot off all your questions to him. im sure he will be more than happy to help you out, very nice guy.

hope this helps ya.:)

I have always heard that you have to grind a lil off the top shock mount.....

^^lier....lol jk...I did have to do some grinding w/ the dremal, but not very much. There's a nut that is tac welded on the insde of the shock mount that u need to grind down a little bit for clearance.
