What makes it hard to start in the winter time? Will it fire and just not want to warm up or will it not give spark?

It has nothing to do with the cold weather. Mine had problems in the middle of summer.
Get a GT Thunder box and be done with it.

My 400EX has a WB rev box and I've never had a single problem with it starting...except for when my solenoid was covered in mud, but that had nothing to do with the rev box. Also, during the winter I never seem to have a problem starting it up...just have to have the choke on.

As long as the battery is good you will be fine with the WB box. When my battery started to go if it sat for a week it would crank over good but it didn't have the voltage to spark. If I hooked it up to the battery charger it would fire right up, even though it wasn't cranking any faster. Since I got a new battery it can sit for quite a while and still fire right up.
