At 4:30 there was a 70-90 car pile up on 95 about a mile or so away from here! ALL ROADS are gridlocked around here, ALL LANES OF I-95 were closed until about an hour ago when one lane north was opened (out of 4). I have heard sirens CONSTANTLY for the past 3 hrs. No word on an exact amt of cars, injured, or dead.

got this from a traffic website
"northbound- at White Marsh Blvd - accident blocking All lanes - Avoid the area!"

southbound accident (about 8 miles north of white marsh blvd) is only blocking one lane now. all im hearing right now is the squeeking of peoples brakes that are slowly making their way down the road.

in the picture: Traffic from traffic being diverted off of I-95, Hail from the storm, a rainbow, and the sun shining on my neighbors house (the blue one).

Is it the hail that caused the accident???

I know around here , the first few snowfalls or a bit of hail , and it's like people have never driven in the stuff before . Usually a few crack ups here and there for the first parts of winter .... then people realize that driving is a little different and that you MUST slow your speeds down .

i dont know what caused it, ive been reading a few different websites, they are sayin there was 8 different accidents on an 8 mile stretch of 95. from white marsh boulevard to mountain road. Im willing to bet that it caused it though.

"A fast-moving storm dumped hail and rain along an 11-mile stretch of the highway, one of the busiest on the East Coast. No deaths were reported, but authorities said 50 people were injured, some seriously, in 17 separate accidents involving 92 vehicles in suburban Baltimore.

Maryland State Police Cpl. Rob Moroney said the pileup was worse than an 89-car pileup last year on Interstate 68 in western Maryland.

``It's just unbelievable,'' Moroney said. ``Amazingly, amazingly, so far, we have no fatalities. We're very, very, very, very happy that it's gone that way so far.'' "

Worse injury was a broken leg, amazing.
