i was just wondering what I should start at for jetting a 2003 300ex. I bought a FMF full pipe and an airfilter with jet kit. Local dealers want $100-$150 for the service, and I will not pay that. Anybody have simliar mods that they can help me? I live in Las Vegas and the elevation is 2100-2200. Bike has about 35-40 hours on it. Thanks

I have 2002 300ex with full pro circiut exhaust, stage 1 cam,.30 over(i think), I run a K& N filter with NO airbox lid and I run a 165 main with stock carb. SO buy 145-165 main jets which are only a few bucks each. Install the jets run your quad a little while, pull the plug immediately after shutting off. Check color.

Silver/white/ash looking you are lean, go up one/two sizes check again.

Chocalate/black you are rich go down one size.

Paper sack brown color is where you need to be. Each quad is different with altitude, etc.

Jetting is no big mechanical task just time consuming to get it right.

If I where you I would go up two sizes from what is in it now, and try it there first. If you run no lid maybe three sizes.

I am no pro but this worked for me. So if any of the pro's here have better advise I would well... follow thier advice.

Good luck

put a jet in it and take a wide open run shut the bike off and take the plug out and see what color the plug is. A lean plug is white, a rich plug is black and a good plug is light brown
