Who makes an aftermarket kick starter for the 250x? Mine has no grip left to it, and I'm tired of my foot slipping off it. I have a piece of rubber hose on it now, but in wet and muddy places, that doesn't even help.

I had the same problem when i had my 250x. I just found a piece of rubber hose and slipped it on there and it worked good.

kinda a red neck idea but, friction tape, I use that under my hand grips, they look like a roll of eletrical tape but they are made to create friction.... hard to explain, get a roll(2-4$) at your local hardware store and you'll see what a I meen.-darren

for a temporary fix you could also clean up the peg with brake cleaner to get all of the oil off of it and then apply silicone to the inside of the rubber hose. Then whenever it cures it should be tacky enough that it will hold on the peg.

The hose is holding fine, but even when rubber gets wet, it gets slippery.... I was kinda hoping to find something more along the lines of something like the footpegs... My buddy put a kicker on his YFZ, and he got a nice aluminum kicher with some good lines cut into it.... I may have to cut and weld something to it.....:blah:

Have you tried grinding your own grooves into your kickstart? If you are worried about ruining it, try finding a kickstart on eBay and grinding into that one.

try laying down a couple of fat beads on the kicker to make it a little fatter, then use a cut off wheel on a 4" grinder, and make some cross hatches. not deep, but deep enough to provide some grip. that should work great without sacrificing strength

I cut new grooves into my footpegs, and that worked fine. I was thinking about welding some beads onto the kicker, but was afraid of taking the temper out of the kicker.... But I may just have to give that a shot.... I was actually thinking of putting some expanded metal on it - the kind used on stair treads....I guess I'll bring it to work and see what I can dream up :D

Try and find a kick starter off of eBay or something so you have a spare in case you mess something up.
