I go out there about 2-3 times a month. YOu have to have a flag, helmet and no riders. Thats the only rules I know of. There are a lot of trails, good sand flats. You can easily spend a full day out there and not come across the same spot twice. Any other questions, you can PM me and ask. Remind me and i will make it out there on those days. I am going this Sunday if anybody else is going to be out there.

I have rode there 2 years in a row, week long trip drove from VA. Campground is great. If me and my buddies can ride for 5 days straight and not get bored you will love it . Spent one whole day on rutted hill climb, rolled a warrior down it plus a few bikes. All you need-- Flag, helmet ;)

KJS is standing on the drag racing area. I'm there just about everyweekend. It's a good place to ride. Trails are trecherous....lots of rocks. 3 bucks to get in. Watch out for the young black haired park ranger....she likes to bitİh. There is a clean pond or lake if you will in the staging area that will cool off the days heat.

Would paddles be a good idea? Or is most of the sand area "flat" as the name implies?

Paddles are not needed unless you like to drag. I normally take a set of paddles and stockers depending on what I want to do.

I'll be ther Sunday. My group will have a DS, Banshee, Red 400EX, Yellow 400EX, Raptor and maybe a few Polaris. Look for a 2002 Silver Chevy HD pulling a red 18' trailer. I'll be the one on the DS BAJA.

Careful on the hills out there, They are Steep..... You'll have fun though, I think its better at St. Joe than at Turkey Bay OHV. There is different terrain, at Turkey bay it was 99% Rocks, at ST. Joe, at least there is sand...

I do believe the ride at St Joes is pretty much cancelled for the time being due too lots of rain. I think were goin to the Badlands this weekend instead...does anyone have any idea on the condition of St Joes with all the rain?

veddersbetter
05-13-2002, 02:46 PM
well....it was supposed to rain in Indiana too so we took a chance on St Joes. Good thing we did... it was sunshine and 75 all day Saturday. St Joes is awesome! We rode from 1-6 until my friend ran headlong into a washout and tore some tendons in his shoulder. Our plans for Sunday were cancelled.
Ive never been to St Joes when its dry out but Ill tell ya the sitting water in the sand flats made for some fun......Ill post some pics after I get them developed

If you are going to St Joe this sunday May 19th the riding area will be closed in the morning because of the National enduro being heald there. I don't know what time it will open. You should call ahead and ask them about time they might be opening on sunday after the race.
Make sure that you plan on coming June 15th for the Flat River Grand Prix. for more info go to

I go there about every other weekend. Usually on a Sunday. Its hard to get tired of, when there are so many trails to ride on. I'd be up for a group ride if one gets put together.
