Im building a 440 engine from the ground up using a 12.5:1 compression piston and running race gas...is it really worth it to add a 210$ heavy duty connecting rod or is that for more high conmpression engines??
im building the head too not just a slap on 440kit!

YES<<<YES>>> make sure you update that rod.. My compression was a 11:1 with a 406 and when I took it apart for the re-build the rod was bent... You are at a pretty High compression with a 12:5. Considering that the stock compression is a 9.1:1... Trust me it is worth it....

with that much compresion, you would be extremly smart to put in that heavy duty rod. if ya dont then your gonna be spending a whole lot more money on new engine parts after that stock rod fails.

Prolly like C & D Racing, They are real nice on the phone.. If not them, then you could try Rockymountainatv.com, or,, Maybe denniskirk.com... I got a Carrillo from FTZ,, Its supposed to be almost indestructible... They say the HOTRODS are pretty much same as stock... Just Call C & D they will help you out a bunch.. Be sure to tell them you are a member of EXriders also...

Definately get a heavy duty rod, i would get a carillo. 11:1 is the max compression you want with a stock rod.
