View Full Version : Kenda Klaw XCR fronts, 4-ply enough? sizes?

I'm getting some new tires. I'm thinking about either the Maxxis Razrs (not Razr2---too expensive) or the Kenda Klaw XCRs. I think I'm leaning towards to Kenda Klaw XCRs though. However, I noticed you can only get the fronts in 4-ply and not 6-ply. I ride on all types of terrain (rocky trails, mud, coal hills, etc.) and want something that will not easily get flats. Will the 4-ply fronts be much more susceptible to flats?

Also, I'm planning on using a larger size tire to increase ground clearance, probably 22s in the back and 23s in the front. I've ridden with 22s in the back before and know they make a fairly big difference for ground clearance, but have never ridden with 23s in the front, so I'm not sure what to expect. Anything I need to be aware of, and are 23s in the front worth it?

Thanks!

The xcr klaw fronts hold up well in the 4ply. I would go with the 22'' fronts

Thanks for the information. Why do you recommend 22" fronts over 23"?

You will get ALOT of shoulder roll with 23" tires...... I would also strongly suggest 22's over 23's. Been there done that...never again. ;)

you will be happy with 22in klaws up front. theyre about an 1-1.5 taller that stock even tho they are both labled 22in.

So, there wouldn't be any weird handling anomalies running 22" front and back?
