I was wondering if i made my 400 to a 426 if i needed to press a new sleeve in the jug, or if i only needed to do that for a 440 kit. Thanks

NO!!! No, new sleeve is necessary but you will have to get it bored a little! The 440 requires the sleeve and boring with the overbore done first!

You can bore the stock sleeve on the 400ex to accept a 426 piston but at that point the sleeve is very thin and could break. All of the 426 kits that I built have a new larger sleeve install that goes from 426 to 445 cc.

if your looking for simplicity, go with the 416. it will have great power gains, good reliability, and save you money. i actually had a 406 that ran pretty similar as my more modded 426 does. so, that isnt' a bad route either.

Did you resleeve ? or are you on the stock sleeve still ?
