Most of the time, the amount of speed is directly proportional to the amount of money spent. So the question is, how much fast are you willing to pay for?

You don't need to send it anywhere man, spend $25 more and buy a clymers manual, sit down and spend some time learning something new and do it yourself. Its not going to be any differnt(that is if you do it right) than if me or joe shmoe did it. Give C&D racing a call and talk to them about what you want. They have great deals on parts, and there service is awsome. Dusty helped me pick out my parts, and when my bike ran it was a bad *** 416.

I did my motor myself, I also did the porting myself, I've ported about 10 engines so far and rebuilt about 12(quads, dirtbikes, a small engine) I'm 16. If you do the research and you know what your doing anything is possible.-darren

I'm running a JE 12.5:1 piston from Curtis Sparks w/my own custom porting, and Stg. 2 hotcams cam, 3 angle valve job, hinson inner hub, hinson basket, and curtis sparks fiber and plates, open air box, and FCR 39m carb, Dynatek ignition, and WB R-4 pro meg exhaust. No complaints with this setup.

I built it right, but I had a valve cover leak and the gasket was on the way....still riding it thinking I was adding enough oil and I wasn't. So yeah I ran it out more or less and seized it. It had nothing about the way I built it.

I'm going to be running a 416 w/ JE 11:1, ATP head porting, TC woods cam, K&N, no lid, custom jetting, choke delete and Sparks X6 exhaust. Should be pretty hot when I get it all together. :D

Lets see....JE 10:8.1 416 piston, hotcam stage 2, 3 angle valve job, stiffer valve springs, Bored stock carb, removed choke, open air box lid, uni filter, Magnium rev box, grinded welds on stock header pipe, TC shorty silencer...I believe that was all the motor word I did, and that thing would scream. I also invested a lot into the elka front shocks, works rear shock, Burgard a-arms, Durablue axle, Razr tires, Burgard stearing stem, Renthal bars...Man the list goes on and on. And now that I need a new motor...I will be spending another grand on this 426 I am looking into. I believe I spent close to $4,000 not including the new motor I will be buying.

get a full yoshimura exhaust system, stage two cam, hinson full clutch(reliability), high compressuion 11:1 to keep the heat down, rev box (not white brothers hard to start in winter), you will want chassis and shock upgrades wider is better for mx, new edlebrock carb best out there right now, you can get all of these parts from chapperal or rockymountain atv.com

JE 10.8:1 piston, Hotcams stage 2, 155main jet, 42 pilot jet, no choke, sparks air filter, slip on e-series w/ no discs, needle up one notch, and your set. Your jetting may not be the same though. You can do it yourself, its not really that hard, just get the manual as hondarider2006 said. Just take your time with it. Mine runs really good. Also, just a helpful hint, make sure you jet fat for break in, and mine runs better with race gas mix, 4 gallons 94octane and 1 gallon VP C12 108 octane. any other questions, you can PM me or i'll check it out on here.

Give C&D racing a call, they will head you in the right direction, and can get you any parts you need;)

yeah, I just finished mine for the first time also. 11.1 piston mild port, stage 2 hotcam. it has full exhaust allready. What jet should I run guys???

anyway, like hondarider 2006, be carefull when putting oil in these. Im' new to the wheeler world, but not in the car world. I did the same thing, I filled up the resovor is was full, thought I was good to go. No one told me you had to start it to let it pull the oil through. Didn't break, but could see how it could happen.

If you do an oil change, fill it, run it for a couple seconds shut it off again. check oil, it will be amost empty. Fill it again.

you can do it yourself just take your time, be clean, and make sure all the parts you put one are smooth and rotate smooth.

and they want you to get hardened rockers which will cost like 300. Web cams are supposed to be nice cams. I just made it simple and went with a hotcam.

It seems like your going with some nice parts, I've heard that the JE pistons are pritty nice. Webcam doesn't mention you have to do hardened rockers, but I bet they just don't say it so they sell more. Look at the specs on the cams and decide which to go with. I noticed a while ago, a stage 2 hotcam is very close to the stage 1 webcam. That made my decision w/ the stage 2.

good luck.

ya i might go with the stage 2 hotcam or the white bro's stage 2

i recommend the hotcams because it matches up with stock components so it can just be "dropped in".

the 400ex cylinders aren't plated. the Z's and KFX's are though.

I sent mine to extreme atv in connecticut, They did a 10.8 JE piston, full race port and polish, stage 2 hotcam, valve job, edelbrock quicksilver carb, open air bow w/uni filter, whitebrothers w2 exhaust. I also run 1/2 mix for gas, 2.5 93 and 2.5 c-12. I really did not ride it when it was stock and when I got it back and put it together, I was very inpressed with how it ran. You wont be dissapointed when you finish it. In my opinion for the port and polish I would send it someone to get that done, and not do it yourself. Good luck and let us know when you get it done and what you think of it.
