I have exausted all of my resources trying to find someone who will insure a CRF450 quad. I have tried my local insurance agencies, progressive, ATV-line, and one called Foremost. My local agency insures my TRX450r now, but will not insure my CRF450. I have almost finished with the majority of aftermarket parts on the TRX also, so this is going to be problem with my local agency soon.

did you know that if your 450r was stolen they will only give you book value for it?

Crazy, isn't it. I thought that you could insure almost anything, but apparently I am wrong. I would not worry about it, but I had a couple stolen before. I am just looking for a little more security than locks and alarms.

They cant insure it because there is no book value on it...

I have Progressive insurance on my 450R. I pay an extra $35 a year for each addition $1000 worth of coverage for aftermarket parts. The first $213 covers for the value of the quad plus $1000 worth of aftermarket parts. The next $175 covers $5000 extra in aftermarket parts. It cost me $388 for the first year. I have to renew in January, I will let you know what it cost.

TRX450R_Racer,

I called Progressive and the rep couldn't find the TRX450R on her list. So she entered the info based on CC. That blew the bill to $560! She got a pretty good estimate on my TRX250EX at $86 per year. How is the TRX450R listed on your policy? I'd like to give them another chance at the price.

Thanks,

I'm an ex racer and an insurance agent and I had all of my quads insured on a stated value policy. Has nothing to do with blue book value and it's the only way to insure aftermarket parts etc. Stated value means you add the cost of the quad plus aftermarket parts and that's the total you insure it for. It also helps to keep all paperwork to verify the figure. In case of a claim there is some depreciation depending upon the age of the bike. Underwriting requirements are to have all of the clients business before offering a policy such as this. Homeowners, auto etc, all that applies.
