Are the LSR axle that much better than the Durablue? Should I just go ahead and spend the extra $$$ on the LSR. I have to replace the stock one and would prefer one thats a little stronger.

Has anyone used the Rads locknut? I don't want to use the stock setup, but also don't want to spend alot of $$$ on an anti-fade one.

Thanks for the Help:macho

The LSR is a stronger axle, but not always more expensive!

Well, I just installed a LSR axle and RAD lock nut today on my bike. BTW, I also put on a new X-ring chain and front & rear sprockets. But anyway, I only paid $330 for my LSR shipped to my house from C&D Racing. I don't know how much a Durablue is, but I doubt it is much less than that. Also, being able to adjust it to +4 if you want is awesome, I have mine at the +2 setting now and I gained exactly 1 inch on both sides compared to stock. The RAD Lock nut was $45 shipped and it is very nice. I would recommend this setup to anyone.

Well I think the Best Axle made is the RPM Dominator. I have never heard or seen a RPM Axle Break or Bend. I will get a RPM for my 400ex.

Now if you really want a Axle, you could get the Dominator 2 or the Rad Titanium Axle.

Hey holty- nice quad dude, if you are racing mx i would take that spark arrestor out of the wb pipe, it makes it sound mean.
But i don't know how it is on the engine with almost no back pressure but 400exracerx runs it like that and he has no problem with it.

I don`t think he would have Problems with Running the White Brothers like that. My TC Pipe is Wide Open.

That is a Nice Quad Holty. Have you got your other Stuff yet?

Thanks fella's....i appreciate the kudo's :D
I really take pride in making my bike look and run good.

But anyway, I'm gonna leave my spark arrestor in because I don't race and I finally just got my jetting dialed in perfect. She's runnin like a champ. I don't wanna have to go through all the again, plus with a stock motor, you really do need some back pressure for you to get max low end power, but i'm sure it would sound nice without the arrestor.

As for my other stuff....I talked to Jeff from the "quadshop" yesterday. He said my Elka's are in but I told him to wait for my A-arms to come and ship them all at once. No sense in paying extra shipping ya know? :)
It will probably be another 2 or 3 weeks for the a-arms. The +1's I originally ordered came in, but I changed my mind and decided to go with chrome uppers and red lowers instead of all red. Jeff was real cool about it though. They arn't gonna charge me any fees or anything for changing my mind after I had already ordered and everything. I'll let you guys no as soon as I get them...TRUST ME :D

It's funny that you ask that question.....my buddy and I were talking about it tonight and the answer is NOTHING. I just bought a new toy hauler (1999 Ford Explorer) and can't afford anything else right now. Plus i'm supposed to be saving for my wedding in 2004 so my fiancee' i'm sure dosn't want to see anything else on my bike for awhile

Honda Guy

I though LSR axles only adjusted to 3.5 IN wider than stock I no its not a big difference but im weird about that stuff.

Dave400ex
04-16-2002, 06:05 PM
Yeah 3.5 is what the Catalog says.

Yes, I'll be at Loretta's this weekend. Stop by and see us, we will be in a yellow Ram pulling a big black enclosed trailer that has M&M racing on the side.

I`m not going. I wish I was. I think we will go to the Ironman Race. Adams44 should be at the race this Weekend. You will have to ask him.

Dana, How does your YZ426 compare to your 250R? Have you rode a CRF450? Man I want to Ride one.

I really like my lonestar axle. LSR's website reads: The 400EX is +1.5" to +3.5" .

That is directly from Lonestar....BUT, I knew this before I purchased the axle and it turns out it gave me EXACTLY 1 full inch on each side of my bike using the spacers set to the shorter length(+1.5''). I measured the bike before and after with the wheels mounted from rubber edge to rubber edge on the tires. So...to me that is a +2 axle?

I havn't really got to test my new axle yet. I plan on doing it this saturday at a poker run in Ohio called Powerline Park.

The LSR 400ex axle is only 3.5 because of the stock 400ex hubs add some offset. If you buy LSR hubs you actually lose that half inch. If you are considering buying rear hubs later or with the axle you should buy the 250r axle, it is +4 with stock 250r or LSR hubs. It will slide right into the carrier but you don't get that slick looking sprocket hub which is another $125. :p

good info. smoker!

i always wondered why it was like that......thanks for your insite.

What is all needed to use a 250R Rear End Setup? I know you get more Ground Clearence with the 250r Setup on a 400ex.

Foxrage
04-17-2002, 07:15 PM
How could that happen wouldnt just be what size tires you yave on it

04-18-2002, 01:26 PM
I think 250r's have smaller rotors,,that's the main difference in ground clearance,,,but an expensive swap to gain 3/4 of an inch...I think mity mo runs a 250r rear brake setup on his pissed off herman 425..:D

Dave400ex
04-18-2002, 07:24 PM
I will have to Ask Adams44 about it.
