400ex power question

My neighbor is looking at a 400ex that his BIL is gonna sell him. It is for the most part stock and hardly ridden--it may have an exhaust on it...not sure on the year.. I rode it and it didn't feel like it had the power I would have expected. This is the first 400ex I rode, and I wasn't impressed. I rode a Z400 recently, and I felt it had alot more power than the ex.... The Z400 was pretty much stock as well. Is the Z400 that much more powerful than the EX? Or is there possibly something wrong with it that I should point out to him?

The z400 is faster I believe it puts out like 29hp, while the ex put out 27. The z400 is also liquid cooled, where as the 400ex is air cooled. The z is going to feel storonger, but shouldn't feel significantly stronger.

Thanks Big - D.... I have only ridden each one time. and the z was about a month ago. But from what I remember, the z was signifigantly stronger. I think I'll have to have another test drive on the ex :devil: .. Just to be sure :D
