im also 14 but im 5'9''. 14 is a weird age for kids and dirt bikes. Its really hard to decide between an 85 and 125 if you are kind of small. I would say dont get an 85 because you will probably get rid of it in a few months and you will have a 125 or 250f until you are 16 or 17. Id go with the 125. I know 13 year olds who ride 125's and they do alright.

Where you want to race, a 125 would be a good way to go. I like playing on dirtbikes, but I don't like riding anything bigger then a 125, (15, 5'10" 172lbs) If I bought a dirt bike I would buy a 80, beacause I know wont hurt myself as bad, and almost anyone can ride it.

If you are going to use it as a trail bike, go for some more CC. I hate trail riding dirtbikes, I just like to screw around, I'll get down to business with the quads ;)

125 might be alittle big for u but your gonna grow into it, i would go 125 no doubt, especially if 85's feel a tad small

I say 80. If you can master and use every inch of power and suspension of that 80 then you'll be king on a 125. Starting out small teaches you to use power better.

I just got a crf250r and I love it.... I also have a yz125. Im 5'8 and I still have trouble getting on sometimes but you will probably be fine. You will just need help getting on sometimes. If you want a real reliable 125 and all around bike try a crf250r or crf250x. The new 05 yz125s are good too and the rm125s have always been realling great bikes

i would get the 125 or a 250f of some kind( i personaly like the yzf). you can re-valve the suspension to help with the hieght problem some. just respect the bike and get used to its power and you should be ok, the main thing is respecting it and getting use to its power, it gonna be a big step up from your friends 80. it may be a while before you can use all the power of a 125 or 250f. i have been ridin bikes for 17 years now and have a couple 250's a 426 and a cr500. after 17 years its still hard to use all the power the cr500 puts out because it so much and can be uncontrolable at times. just respect it and get used to it before you get too evil kinevil on it.
you also may want to lean towards the 250f of some kind if you plan on trail riding alot, the 2 strokes will foul spark plugs as fast as you can put them in if you ride at too slow of a speed or on trails where you dont really get on it a whole lot.

dont waste your time with a 125 2 stroke, get a 250f, i rode a yz today i really liked it but it felt really bulky and tall for a shorter guy like me, crf 250 felt much better but i didnt get a chance to ride it but i imagine the power and handling is just as good if not better

i gurantee you 2 girls would have brown stains in your pants if you ever got on a cr 500 and ran through the gears, i rode one jus touched the power band and that was enough for me, no one needs that much power in a bike
