I am thinking about getting a stage 2 hotcam for my 450r. The only thing is I dont have an aftermarket exhaust yet. I have a jet kit and the baffle out and i dont want to spend $450 for a sparks pipe right now but i want to put a cam in because it will only cost me about $130. Is it a bad thing if i put a cam in before i have a pipe or does it really even matter?

the cam will help, but i would do the exhaust first. you will see a bigger gain this way. the stock exhaust will limit the cam some. as far as the rev box goes it helped me stay off the rev limiter. with the stock cam you do not need it, but when you change the cam out you will find that the rev limiter comes up really quick. i got it from http://www.temeculamotorsports.com/default.asp?sid=07825128X10K10K2004J1I06I12JPMQ846 R0 for 125.00;)

I tried to order the rev box from there but they called and told me that they are not done working on them yet and i can only be put on back order. How did you get urs?

I had to switch back to my stock exhaust for a week and it sucked with my cam. I'd wait and get the exhaust first. And besides the cam is cheap compared to the exhaust. You'll see a bigger gain with the new exhaust and proper jetting than with switching out the cam and keeping the stock exhaust. Just save your money and do it right. goodluck
