I have just been the lucky one to snap a LoneStar +2 axle! I managed to accomplish this at Little Sahara Waynoka, Ok today. Only jumped 3-4 ft. in the air with a total distance of 6 feet max.
The landing was wierd to say the least.... I thought I had bent the rear shock... only to look down to my right and see that I was dragging in the sand, did a double take, yup it was true the tire was gone. I looked back up the hill from where I had launched only to see the tire sticking straight up out of the sand supported by the other half of my axle!
It really didn't help that I was stuck right in the middle of the bigger dunes, half way betwen the north and south campgrounds. Luckily we were able to find a pickup to haul the quad back into camp.
On a side note. The Raptor doesn't work so good when converted to a 3-wheeler!! LOL. I had to laugh.
Here are some pics.... To me it almost looks as if either the axle was cracked or stressed a long time ago or it was a factory defect. The pictures should show how half the axle diameter is a new clean break, while the other half looks a bit rusty/discolored.
