If I decide to replace all of my fenders on my 400ex, should I try Maier plastic or spnd the extra money on Genuine Honda fenders?

The reason I ask is because back about 17 years ago, I worked as a bike mechanic at a shop for 4 years and we would get some Maier fenders in once in awhile because of the price difference and I gotta tell ya, thier plastic was horrible looking. It looked so cheesy compared to the real thing, but I havent seen any since. Most manufacturers get better with time so I wonder, are they anywhere close to being able to make fenders look like "Honda" fenders?

in my oppinion the maier fenders look really good, and if you take your time the mount up nicely i've had mine since spring and they still look great only complaint i have is they arn't quite as rigid as the stockers and tend to flap, but it really doesn't bother, it's something that you notice when you first mount them up but then goes away plus somtimes i think it's a good thing since my bike spends quite abit rubber side up :o

I've got Maiers on my 250x and I just put a set on my sons Lt80. While they are not as ridgid as the stock plastics, they are nice. The only problem I had with them is the fuel cutoff switch on the 250x was in a different spot than what Maier cut out for. My cut isn't the prettiest, but when it is covered in mud you never notice it... The only other PITA is removing the front plastic requires removing the handlebars and accessories on the bars....:(

Hmmm,

So far, it doesnt sound like maier is much better with thier QC than they were 20 years ago. I remember getting a set of rears for my 350x and there were inferior to Honda in looks, design, and durability. I might spend the extra loot and get Genuine Honda fenders.

Thanks for the opinions guys.
