Depends on your riding style and your current/future mods.

For instance, if you run a stock bore and stock compression I'd recommend a much different cam than if you had a 500 bore kit.

What would you reccomend for stock comp, and bore? I was leaning towards the sparks agressive, I do track and trail, but i love torque!

One of the cams Sparks sells is a CRF cam. I believe it is what they call their "Aggressive".

I'd probably go with a hotcam stage 2 for woods and stock internals.

HRC gives up too much bottom on an otherwise stock engine in my opinion...

However, if you're running high compression or a big bore, it's an excellent cam for the woods.

There are probably better cams out there than the CRF cams, from what I've talked with people about - but I don't have any direct experience with any of the CRF cams, so it's all just mostly speculation...

Any of the higher compression pistons and/or the FST 500 kit should work well with the HRC cam. They'll give the bottom end a boost and the HRC pulls well thru the mid and top.

I have heard (and this is not biased because I have this cam), but the '04 CRF cam works the best with a high compression piston, like a 13.8:1. I can't remember who on this forum told me that but they said that the people who maintain Tim Farr's bike told him this. Kinda relaying the message, sorry I don't have specific names.

I am getting a stage 2 hotcam, it doesnt give up hardly any bottom, if any, add adds alot to mid-top, along with the vortex cdi im picking up should improve it all arround.

my buddy has the hotcams stage 2. barely any bottom loss if any and his quad really pulls hard on the top. really different than my stock motor. i would think this cam would be good for mx. he also had a TC full system and jetted with no box lid.

what im wanting is the engine to pull more in the midrange,, really not looking for it to pull harder on the top end and maybee make it lug more on the bottom end

i JUST PUT BALDWINS PIPE and cam in my 05 450r and its an
excellent choice for xc racing.

Gains all accross the powerband-also very controlable.

holeshot, i would get the hotcams stage 2 and get a 13t or 39t sprocket.

what about a hrc cam with a weisco 12.5 to 1 piston:confused:

That should make a fairly nice power spread - especially if you have a pipe.
