hey guys! i am just wondering what the standard length or most common length is for a swing arm for mx? i am in college right now and next semester during jan, feb, etc. i will be taking a metal casting class for my major. now since the stock swinger on the 450r is cast aluminum and at our foundary here we use mostly aluminum, i was think about makin my own swing arm. now i have read alot about how the 450R wheelies and needs a longer swinger. well i can whellie it if i want to but can keep the front wheels down if i need to but have never really had a porblem with it doing it alot. and i have also read that some pro's use shorter swing arms. so what is a good length for the 450r for mx?

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks, chris

I am no pro or expert, but I believe that most of those who are racing MX are going with a +1 or +1.25 swingarm. The shorter swingarms are typically used for Flat Track and TT racing.

yeah that is what i was thinkin. i was porbably going to try and cast a +1 swinger. but in the new dirt wheels i read that jeremiah jones has a shorter swing arm on his yfz. so i don't.

The yfz is also longer than a 450R stock.
