Who makes the best 16 tooth sprocket for a 400ex. Idealy I would like to keep the chain guard on. Cost isn't really a problem I just want to know what one is the best one so I can get that extra top to beat my friend.:D

The SideWinder Ti-Moly series sprockets is the absolute best sprocket money can buy!;)

but don't they only make a Ti-Moly rear sprocket. They only have the 2 steel ones for the front? correct me if i am wrong.

Renthal makes quality sprockets, and you really can't go wrong. I got mine from C&D and Im very happy with it. Really stretches out the ratios between shifts so Im not shiftin like a damn Blaster on my 400. Im pretty sure the stock case saver wont work because the sprocket will be too big, but Im pretty sure Pro Design offers a case saver that will fit 16t countershaft sprockets. I have a Nac's case saver, so I just put it in a vice and took my Rotozip to it and shaved some aluminum off and it fits fine. I havent tried it on the stock case saver, but if its aluminum you could do the same thing and just take a dremel or grinder to it and shave it down till she fits. ;)

Sidewinder does offer the Ti-Moly in some sizes for the front. Magicracing.com has SRP billet case savers that accomodate 16T front sprockets on the 400ex.;)

dont be expecting to keep that guard on there with out some tweaking to it, it will need grinded down in order to fit correctly. and even when it is grinded down it isnt gunna help u much if they chain does pop.
