Has anyone ever sanded down a helmet and repainted it? I know new they seem to have a pretty thick clear coating on them. Just wondering if it will look like crap or not.

A friend of mine had his repainted.....to purple!:huh Its really ugly. And he rides a cr250r. It wasn't prepped right though. Its a dull sparkly purple. It would look better with a clear coat on it.

Most likely the color is one of the new custom colors. Its (if it is) meant to be a dull color and still have the metal flake under lay. It is a difficult color to paint.

The prep on a helmet is difficult! You have to decide how far you want to take it. The Rubbers on the helmet are a pain! Most of the companies design them not to come off so you usually tear them taking them off!
