Oil over flowing

I was putting 2 quarts of oil into my tank and it got filled to the top and a decent over flowed and came out. I had the engine all apart so it needed the two quarts. Should i just run it and the oil will get out into the engine and everything will be fine?

let it run for a few minutes then check and top off if it needs it;)
