I got this 1993 Ford Ranger V6 4.0 liter and was wondering what the size of the gas tank is becasue i dont think im getting good gas mileage. im gettting about 250miles a tank if that. i noticed that if i have a 1/4 tank of gas when the truck is running and then turn it off the gas gauge will go to 1/2 of tank. its got 33's on it but i dont think them tires would make that bigg of differnce in gas mileage. anybody know whats up??

i think my tank is 16.5 gallons or soemthing. the 33's do make a big diff if its not regeared right and you are trying to accelerate normally.

16.5 if its a reg cab, i think 19 if its a extended cab

www.rangerpowersports.com is also a good forum, i have had a couple rangers, 89,91, and now my 95

I usually get over 300 to a tank. Best was 370 and I had to put 18.5 gallons in it. Mine is a 96 4.O supercab with 163,000. Our 94 explorer is lucky to get 230 on a tank and it's getting tired. How is your overall condition?

regular cab is 16.5, supercab is 20

4.0 with a little bit of work done and a 20gallon tank, 12 miles to the gallon, i get bout 200 miles outta my tank, trucks only got about 20,000 miles on it, must be something wrong with it

My 99 ranger only got about 250 miles on the 16.5 gallon tank. I would say yours is where it should be. I had a 4.0 4x4 with 4.10 gears and lt245\75 \16 tires.

it was a good truck but it was slow, gutless and had no room. They should have stuck 5liters in them at the factory.

Compared to my f150 my ranger was a slug. The 01 and newers should be a lot better. My ranger did good smokies too.

The best my ranger ran was a 17.4. My f150 15.6

so if mine did a 15.9 on 33's than that ain't to shabby

That wouldnt be to shabby.

What did you do to yours.

I just know mine was a turd but that may just be attributed to the 4.10 gears 5spd auto.

yeah mine runs pretty damn good, espescially with 33's, its an extended cab, STX, but i dont know what gears are in it but its pretty damn torquey in 1st and 2nd gears and it makes a whining sound in 1st gear to when im just putting around.
